Primary sources of documents, photographs, oral histories, and historical objects are valuable teaching tools in the hands of a guided teacher. Let the Smithsonian also provide you with a variety of videos and web links that are provided on their page. Searching by themed topics provides materials centered around topics like the American wars, social movements, and presidential history. We might not be able to take our children on a field trip to the Smithsonian in person, but we can give them on virtual tour for every new era of history we teach.

Whatcom County Public Health Advisory Board, Whatcom Health Department, Generations Forward, & Healthy Whatcom collaborated together on an action plan for our county that was published in 2020. Data on the demographics of our area is very insightful. It also addresses how mental health issues are impacting schools, placing demands on school districts to meet these challenges and provide social-emotional learning opportunities for our students.
