Why We Should All Be Reading Out loud To Children? by Rebecca Bellingham

TEDxYouth@Beacon Street on December 29, 2015

https://youtu.be/ZBuT2wdYtpM

In less than 10 minutes, you can listen to this inspirational and informational talk on why to read to our children. Giving children the opportunity to listen and talk about a story in meaningful ways is beautifully presented by teacher Rebecca Bellingham. This warm and relational activity that is so conducive to a home setting also meets several speaking and listening standards for second grade. Giving children the opportunity to comprehend and collaborate in conversations with others is a powerful experience. These small interactive moments teach children how to build on others talk and ask for clarification when further explanation is needed. (Common core standards 2.SL.1 and 2.L.6)
